Today, May 26, our beautiful and proud capital celebrates its day.

The Rashists dreamed of taking "Kyiv in three days" and defiantly imagined how they would march in full uniform through its central streets. They wanted to seize the capital - and thereby subjugate all of us.

Then, at the beginning of a full-scale invasion, the best sons and daughters of our country came to the defense of the state. The Armed Forces of Ukraine, side by side with volunteers, courageously opposed the "elite" of the Russian troops: special forces, paratroopers, marines. Battles were already taking place in the suburbs of the capital.

Those who remained in the city and could not take up arms rallied together, prepared food for the defenders, supported everyone who was in difficulty. They helped set up roadblocks and prepared a "hell" meeting with the enemy.

After long battles, the Russian group advancing on Kyiv in the number of 25-30 thousand soldiers broke its teeth against the desperate resistance of the Ukrainians, suffered a heavy defeat and retreated. And already on April 2, 2022, Kyiv region was liberated from the occupying forces.

Despite all the plans of the enemy and the large number of his army, the capital stood then, becoming an example of indomitability for the entire country. And it continues to stand courageously now, repelling numerous terrorist missile attacks by Russia. Kyiv remembers the price of its freedom and bows its head low in mourning for the soldiers who gave their lives for it.
