This woman had a talent for languages since childhood and left behind a valuable translation legacy, which included the works of Moliere, Shakespeare, Twain. She was in love with the stage and devoted a quarter of a century to playing on it.
She came from the intelligent Steshenkov-Starytsky family, whose members made a significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian culture. She was the granddaughter of the writer, theater figure Mykhailo Starytsky. And, fortunately, she avoided the tragic fate that befell her relatives, who were repressed by the Stalinist regime in the 1930s and died.
Today we remember Iryna Steshenko, a Ukrainian dramatic actress, writer, translator, in our column “Know Yours, Yours and Ours”.
