Did you know that grandfather was once a traditional symbol of Christmas among Ukrainians? Sheaf, which was usually used to decorate the house on Christmas Eve - the eve of the bright holiday. Ornaments were woven from ears of corn and put on penance - as gratitude for a good harvest, and for happiness and prosperity to prevail in the family.
So today in the Saturday column "Know yours, yours and ours" we will talk about grandfather - where he comes from, what he represents and what Christmas customs are associated with him.
