Friends, we did it!

Friends, we did it!

We prepared, tuned in, and wrote this year’s National Unity Radio Dictation together with Ukrainians all over the world. And, of course, we survived the lively ‘post-event’ discussion that has probably already become another national tradition. So it’s hard not to deny — our radio dictation truly unites us!

Our team also marked the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language properly — with a pen in hand, trying to quickly recall punctuation rules and keep up with the reader’s pace. And, to be honest, imagining ourselves as super-skilled philologists who could definitely write the life-affirming text by author Yevheniia Kuznetsova without a single mistake.

So we’re just as excited to learn about the most common mistakes Ukrainians made this year. Shall we begin?

  • Не впівсили — an adverb meaning “not at full strength,” written as one word.
  • По-справжньому — an adverb with the prefix по-, written with a hyphen.
  • Між’яр’я — a word with two apostrophes: the first between the prefix and the root, the second after the hard р.
