Anna Sten — the first Ukrainian star of Hollywood
While cinema fans are still discussing the winners of the legendary Academy Awards, in our project “Know Yours, Theirs, and Ours” we recall a Ukrainian woman whose refined beauty shone in Hollywood decades ago.
Anna Sten — a Kyiv-born actress, American film star, and a well-known figure both in her homeland and internationally in the 1920s–30s. She became one of the first actresses of Ukrainian origin to gain recognition in Hollywood. Living on another continent, Anna never forgot her Ukrainian roots and emphasized them in interviews. She also mentioned that nowhere does food taste as good as in Ukraine and shared how much she missed it.
