Missionary of the Christian Church

"My husband and I moved to Borodyanka in 2014 from Buchi, where we also served in the church. We became missionaries here. We bought a small house with a plot of land - and built a church there (mainly with sponsorship funds and donations) for all generations", - this is how he begins his story for "History of the Strong" by Olen Andriishyn.

The night was spent in prayers

Olena recalls that "we returned to Borodyanka already under the "accompaniment" of continuous enemy bombardment..."

It was still possible to leave the village via the "green corridor".

"We spent the night in prayers. We thought about it, and in the morning we decided to stay, because people need us here. Actually, that's why the church exists, to shelter the suffering and the needy, to help them in a difficult hour," says the woman.

In two days there were already occupiers

"After the bombings and destruction, people could be heard screaming and begging for help under the rubble. They could have been saved, but the Russians didn't let anyone in! That's how the unfortunate people died... Neighbors and relatives collected the remains of the dead and buried them right in the yards."

Olena tells about how people were delivered medicines collected from broken pharmacies, how they helped the bedridden, how they organized shelter in the church premises, how they survived without water, gas and electricity.
