We continue the series of video tips in which we explain the intricacies of the new law on mobilization

The lawyer of our Foundation, Kristina Prykhodko, continues a series of video tips in which she explains the intricacies of the new law on mobilization.

In today's video, the expert explains the obligation for women who have obtained a medical or pharmaceutical specialty to register for the military. This obligation is established by the eleventh part of Article 1 of the Law of Ukraine "On Military Duty and Military Service".

This provision of the Law is not new and was in force even before the introduction of martial law in Ukraine.

A similar norm is also in the new edition of this article of the Law, the changes to which will enter into force on May 18, 2024.

Watch the video where Christina explains this provision.

PROCEDURE

In order to register for the military, women must:

• apply to the TCC;

• pass the VLK;

• after receiving the conclusion of the VLK on suitability, personal data is entered into the Unified State Register of conscripts, conscripts and reservists, followed by the issuance of the corresponding military registration document.

THEREFORE, the inclusion of women in the military register of conscripts is carried out after determining their suitability for military service.

UNFIT for military service, and therefore not subject to military registration, are women who:

• pregnant women;

• unfit due to health conditions.

Our lawyer DRAWS ATTENTION: being registered in the military does not mean that a woman will be mobilized.

Since women who are on military registration can be called up for military service or involved in work to ensure the defense of the state in wartime ONLY ON A VOLUNTARY ORDER.

Such a clarification is contained in the wording of Part Twelve, Article 1 of the Law on Military Duty and Military Service, which will come into effect on May 18 of this year.
